PET Projects

A “pet project” is a project pursued as a personal favorite, as opposed to one that is generally accepted as necessary or important. At GOEX, all of the materials we extrude are essential to the markets we serve, vital to our valued customers, and consequential to the environment. Through product development and innovation, we provide product options (including PET) that are used in a variety of critical applications.

PET stands for polyethylene terephthalate, a form of polyester. PET has been safely used to package beverages, food, personal care, and household items since the introduction of the first PET bottle in the 1970s. You will recognize PET material, as it is easily identified by the #1 code on or near the bottom of plastic packaging. Classified as a curbside recyclable material, PET is the most commonly used and easily recycled plastic on Earth.

The PET we extrude at GOEX meets the highest standards and demanding requirements of the medical thermoforming market. Our MEDPET®90 medical-grade polyester is specifically designed for rigid medical device packaging. MEDPET®90 provides a preferred recycling option and cost-effective solution, offering significant cost savings over traditional medical device packaging materials.

GOEX extrudes PET materials for our food packaging customers as well. Our CONSERVE® PET is FDA-approved for contact with food and beverages and is a popular choice for our food industry partners. Our CONSERVE® line-up includes APET materials with enhanced barrier properties that help extend the shelf-life and freshness of the food they package. Keeping oxygen and moisture vapor transmission to a minimum, these materials are ideal for the packaging of a wide range of food products from charcuterie to cheese snack packs.

As part of our RE•COVER™ family of recycled products, our CONSERVE® rPET is produced with a minimum 25% postconsumer recycled (PCR) content. This material offers added environmental and regulatory compliance benefits to our food packaging customers.

There are many positives to using PET for packaging. From aesthetics to economics to the environment, GOEX has it covered with an awesome array of PET materials. Make GOEX your trusted and environmentally sound material provider of choice to help achieve your economic, compliance, and sustainability goals.

Let our PET be your new personal favorite!
